HAZ Oil Quality Sensor

HAZ Oil Quality Sensor

Zone 2 certified to ATEX, IECEx, UKEX, and Class 1 Division 2 US/C standards allowing real time oil condition analysis for hazardous area industrial and commercial applications.

OQH is a high-performance real-time oil condition analysis sensor for use in most explosion hazardous areas.

It delivers the ultimate high-quality real-time oil condition analysis. This enables multiple tangible operating benefits that include reduced maintenance costs, improved reliability, reduced oil wastage, and extended equipment life.

Our unique FSH™ core technology analyses oil condition holistically, detecting, measuring, and tracking all and any contamination or wear with 0.01% sensitivity (10ppm) – other sensor systems typically look at specific parameters and ignore others. This unmatched real-time complete oil analysis capability is achieved through continuous analysis of the electro-chemical properties of the oil at a molecular level.

OQH works with any oil type with any equipment operating in any application. It is certified ATEX Zone 2/intrinsically safe/ Class 1 Div 2

Sense-2 Display Kit

The system continuously analyzes, logs, and displays actual oil condition and remaining oil life in real time. Configurable analytics generate alerts in case of unexpected contamination or oil wear, ensuring timely maintenance actions. With a built-in data logger and wireless connectivity, data can be easily accessed and downloaded for further analysis.

SENSE-2 is a versatile solution suitable for any environment and compatible with all types of oils, offering quick installation and reliable, continuous monitoring.

Key Features

  • REAL TIME ANALYSIS – Continuous real-time oil condition with 0.01% sensitivity, detecting and reporting changes caused by wear and/or contamination
  • RELIABLE ACCURACY – Our unique molecular level analysis technology means that the smallest changes down to 100ppm are detected and reported in real-time. This enables us to reliably track oil wear and immediately detect contamination or equipment issues at the earliest stage
  • ANY OIL TYPE AND EQUIPMENT – Can be fitted and used on any equipment type operating in any environment using any oil type – mineral or synthetic
  • REDUCE MAINTENANCE COSTS – Analysis-based rate of change and EoL enables accurate trend analysis to identify optimal extended maintenance intervals based on real equipment status. Typically reduces maintenance by up to 50%
  • REDUCED DOWNTIME – Unseen equipment issues cause subtle changes to oil condition, which are detected and alerted, enabling pre-emptive maintenance before failure or major damage or accelerated wear
  • ENVIRONMENTAL (ESG) TARGETS: – Safely maximise oil life to reduce consumption by up to 50%. Reduce parts consumption and extend equipment life

Applications

  • Oil condition monitoring in hazardous areas (ATEX Zone 2 / explosive environments)
  • Engines (automotive, marine, industrial) operating in high-risk environments
  • Gearboxes and transmission systems for condition-based maintenance
  • Hydraulic systems in industrial and heavy-duty machinery
  • Power generation equipment including turbines and generators
  • Mining and heavy equipment operating in harsh and explosive zones
  • Marine and offshore applications where safety and reliability are critical
  • Rail and transportation systems for continuous monitoring and reliability
  • Wind turbines and renewable energy equipment
  • Industrial process equipment requiring real-time oil condition monitoring

Oil Interpreting Guide

Tan Delta technology continuously analyses oil in real time at a molecular level, accurately tracking condition changes as equipment operation causes oil to wear. Rate of change projection enables reliable optimal maintenance forecasting and safe interval increases – thus reduced costs. Contamination or equipment issues cause trend spikes which are instantly detected, enabling immediate evaluation and action as necessary to avoid unnecessary break downs and life-shortening equipment wear.

What is the HAZE Oil Quality Sensor (OQH) and what does it measure?

HAZE Oil Quality Sensor (OQH) is a specialized sensor designed to detect contamination and turbidity (haze) in oil. It identifies the presence of water ingress, coolant contamination, and particulate impurities that affect oil clarity and performance.

While standard OQS sensors monitor overall oil condition and degradation, the OQH sensor focuses specifically on optical clarity and contamination levels. It provides an additional layer of protection by detecting early-stage contamination that may not immediately affect dielectric properties.

The OQH sensor uses optical measurement techniques to assess light transmission and scattering through the oil. Changes in clarity indicate contamination such as water droplets, emulsions, or suspended particles, enabling early detection.

Key advantages include:

  • Early detection of water and coolant ingress
  • Identification of particulate contamination and oil haze
  • Complementary monitoring alongside OQS sensors
  • Improved equipment protection and maintenance planning

Reduced risk of catastrophic failures due to contamination

The OQH sensor is widely used in:

  • Hydraulic systems and industrial machinery
  • Gearboxes and lubrication systems
  • Marine and heavy-duty equipment
  • Automotive testing and fleet monitoring

It is especially valuable in systems where oil contamination is a critical risk factor.
