Which Video data logger is right for you?

VBOX Video data loggers are used by automotive manufacturers and proving grounds for a wide range of applications. We offer different solutions, from the four-camera system Video VBOX Pro, to our flagship VBOX Video HD2, which offers synchronised HD video and GPS data, as well as the option for live-streaming to engineers working remotely.

VBOX Video HD2

Video VBOX Pro

Applications

ADAS Testing

See the exact moment that a vehicle crosses the line when validating the accuracy of Lane Departure Warning or Blind Sport Detection systems, with up to four cameras. VBOX Video data loggers are also ideal for Park Assist testing, providing a visual reference to the kerb.

Brake & Tyre Testing

The VBOX Video HD2 is compatible with the VBOX Tyre Temperature Monitoring System. Measure, log and display the surface temperature of up to four tyres with heat maps overlaid in real-time on the video, making it easy to evaluate tyre performance.

Handling & Dynamics

See what is happening inside and outside the vehicle at any given time. See the full picture and understand the exact path or behaviour of a vehicle during any application, making use of synchronised video and data.

Real-time Graphic Overlay

RACELOGIC’s range of in-car camera systems are fully synchronised and embed a real-time graphical overlay on your video, allowing you to instantly analyse your performance and pinpoint areas for improvement.

VBOX Video HD2

The VBOX Video HD2 is our most advanced video data logger and can record in Full HD at 30 frames per second. It is also available with dual cameras and can log up to 80 vehicle CAN channels.

If you need to log more than 32 CAN channels, then the VBOX Video HD2 might be the best data logger for you. It is extremely popular with OEMs, automotive engineering departments and proving grounds, as the VBOX Video HD2 is available with one or two cameras, that can be mounted inside or outside the vehicle.

Synchronised video and data can make it easier to understand the dynamics and behaviour of a vehicle during a specific test. You can simultaneously play back your video footage in VBOX Test Suite and analyse your data in charts and tables, and even share what you see on your screen with colleagues.

Live streaming to remote engineers

The VBOX Video HD2 is available with an HDMI option, allowing you to stream real-time video and audio to an HDMI compatible monitor, recorder or streaming device such as LiveU Solo.

Live footage can be shared with engineers or departments working remotely. This is particularly useful when only a limited number of people are allowed in the test vehicle, or if you are collaborating with other departments around the world.

Live-streaming can save valuable time, as a team of remote engineers can see what is happening in real-time and share feedback with the test driver using radios or telematics equipment.

Tyre Temperature Monitoring

The VBOX Video HD2 can also be used in conjunction with the RACELOGIC tyre temperature monitoring sensors, making it easy to measure, log and display the surface temperature of all four tyres in real-time.

Data can be recorded by the VBOX Video HD2 data logger and heat maps are overlaid in real-time on the video. The sensors offer 120° FOV and each sensor can measure up to 16 temperature points on a tyre, with surface temperatures ranging from -20 °C to 300 °C.

As this information is available on the video, it is extremely easy to interpret and see exactly what is happening on the test track.

Free Analysis Software

VBOX Test Suite

Our user-friendly, intuitive data analysis software is free and comes preloaded with application specific plugins that make it quick and easy to conduct tests.

You can either save a recorded session as a .vbo file to the SD card and import it into VBOX Test Suite, or you can view your test data live when connecting the unit via a serial cable to your laptop or PC.

Add-ons and Accessories

VBOX 4

You can use a VBOX 4 to record vehicle CAN or other sensor data at 100 Hz. In this case VBOX Video is used for display purposes only and will receive the data via CAN at the native log rate (e.g. 10 or 25 Hz) to create a real-time graphical overlay onto the recorded video. The data review will still use 100 Hz data logged by the VBOX 4. You can align the video with the 100 Hz VBOX data in VBOX Test Suite using the “Video Sync” option.

LiveU Solo

This HDMI streaming device allows you to share live footage from the test vehicle with engineers or departments working remotely. LiveU Solo is only compatible with the HDMI version of VBOX Video HD2 logger.

Tyre Temperature Sensors

Measure, log and display the surface temperature of all four tyres as a heat map overlay on your HD2 video footage. The sensors are only compatible with a VBOX Video HD2 or a VBOX Touch.

Camera Mounting Arm

This sturdy adjustable mounting arm allows you to place the cameras inside and outside the vehicle.

Thermocouple Interface

In standalone mode all VBOX video loggers can be used with any of our VBOX input modules. For example the Thermocouple Interface allows you to log 8 K-type thermocouple inputs along with the normal channels of VBOX data.

Remote Start/Stop Logging Switch

Connect a logging switch to the HD2 to give you full control over the logging. The RLACS237 also allows you to log to a USB stick or solid state hard drive.

Mini Input Module

The Mini Input Module allows data such as temperature, RPM, wheel speed, fuel flow, throttle angles and pedal forces to be easily measured along with the VBOX GPS data.

Inertial Measurement Unit

The VBOX IMU provides highly accurate measurements of pitch, roll, and yaw rate using three rate gyros, as well as x, y, z acceleration via three accelerometers.

Analogue Input Module

This 8-channel 16-bit voltage interface allows vehicle analogue output sensor data to be logged by the VBOX Video HD2 and Video VBOX Pro.

Frequency Input Module

The VBOX Frequency & Pulse Counter Input Module enables frequency based signals in the range of 1 Hz to 20 kHz to be recorded.

What is a Video VBOX data logger?

Video VBOX is a multi-camera video recording system integrated with GPS data logging and graphical overlay. It records synchronized video and vehicle data, allowing engineers to visually analyze performance alongside telemetry.

Unlike traditional data loggers, Video VBOX combines video footage with real-time data overlays such as speed, acceleration, lap time, and track position. This enables intuitive analysis and faster decision-making during testing and driver coaching.

The range includes systems like Video VBOX Pro, Video VBOX Lite, and waterproof variants, along with HD systems like VBOX Video HD2. These cater to motorsport, automotive testing, and harsh environment applications.

The system records synchronized video files (AVI format) along with a separate data file (.VBO) containing GPS and CAN data. This ensures precise alignment between video footage and measured parameters for post-processing.

Yes, Video VBOX can log CAN bus data and integrate with various sensors and modules. This allows users to capture detailed vehicle parameters such as RPM, throttle position, braking, and more alongside video.
